Building Integrated Photovoltaic panels on Demand 2
The reason for the BIPVpod-2 project is an unmet demand for affordable customized solar panels for aesthetic integration in buildings. As part of aesthetic topics, it should be noted that various BIPV solutions can make use of the specific viewing angles at street level and the much different angle of the insolation. Moreover, integration of PV in the built environment also increases requirements for durability in terms of functionality, structural integrity and appearance.
The goal of the project is to develop technology for low-cost color-tunable thin-film PV panels to enable customization at a specified size and shape for the customer and capable of handling partial shadow without compromising the output. The applications focus on tilted roofs and façade, where coloring and general appearance are considered of utmost importance.
